Installation and disassembly

Precautions before installation

<div class="ico_danger">Installation and disassembly of a pressurized product may cause personal injury and/or property damage.</div>

<div class="ico_danger ico_2ndline">Before installation, be sure to release the pressure inside the product and piping.</div>

  • Ensure free space around the product for maintenance and safe operation.
  • Do not install in a location with high humidity or temperature. Doing so may cause performance degradation or malfunction.
  • Be careful not to damage the tube and piston rod when moving or handling the cylinder.
  • Please check the specifications and allowable load of the selected cylinder.
    Ref. Pneumatic cylinder force data.
  • Make sure that there is no external magnetism near the cylinder. The auto switch may malfunction due to external magnetism.
  • After completing the cylinder installation, connect the pneumatic pipe.

Installation

  • Securely fix the mounting or connecting parts so that the cylinder does not come loose due to long-term operation, vibration, or external force of the equipment.
  • Be careful not to cause external forces, such as torsion or lateral loads, by connecting the axial center of the cylinder rod to match the direction of movement of the load.
  • If the rod and tube are twisted, the inner tube, bush, and rod may be damaged, resulting in malfunction and shortening of product life span.
  • In case of high-speed operation or high load, a bending moment is applied to the cylinder by vibration generated at the end of the stroke, and the cylinder may be damaged.
  • Please consider installing a device that absorbs the vibration of the cylinder body (shock absorber, constant velocity controller, etc.).
  • Sufficiently apply grease while considering the heat generation of parts that operate connected to external devices, including brackets or clevis pins.
  • When tightening screws or parts, apply proper torque. Insufficient torque may lead to loosening or an improper seal. Excessive tightening torque may cause damage to screws, etc.
  • After installing the cylinder, be sure to go through the trial run stage and complete the leak and function inspection before operating the equipment.

Pneumatic piping

  1. Before installing the pipe, sufficiently flush or clean the piping to remove foreign substances. Even when fastening piping or fittings, make sure that chips from the piping screws or sealing material do not move into the machine. These may cause malfunction.
  2. Fasten the threaded part of the pipe or fitting to the pneumatic port. When tightening, please observe an appropriate value of torque.
  3. After completely sealing the pneumatic port, connect the pneumatic tube.

Pneumatic pipedisassembly

<div class="ico_danger">Before disassembly, be sure to release the pressure inside the product and pipe.</div>

  1. Exhaust air from the entire system and product.
  2. Press and release the lock on the pipe or fitting, then pull out the hose line.
  3. Loosen the fitting on the connecting flange and turn it out.

Trial run

Trial run precautions

  • Gradually increase the air pressure of the system or equipment. A sudden injection of air pressure into a stationary cylinder may result in damage to the product or injury to the operator.
  • When the load is large or the cylinder's operating speed is high, an external shock absorber must be installed to minimize the load.
  • Please consider using a soft start valve to prevent damage from impact during initial operation and to protect the operator.
  • Be sure to adjust the flow control screw while the product is stopped.

Cushion needle adjustment

<div class="image light-mode-images manual-half-img"><img src="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/6577e4ddb18c5363e98a478a/65c05e719cd3b97eabbce368_ACM__cushion-niddle__en.png"><div>

<div class="image dark-mode-images manual-half-img"><img src="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/6577e4ddb18c5363e98a478a/65c05e71735b354f99172fd4_ACM__cushion-niddle_dark__en.png"><div>

  • Adjust the cushion degree according to the load by adjusting the cushion needle.
  • Turning the cushion needle clockwise increases the degree of cushioning, and turning it counterclockwise decreases the degree of cushioning.
  • The initial setting of the cushion is set to medium when the product is shipped out, so the product can be used without further adjustment in most cases.

How to conduct a trial run

  1. After locking all the screws of the flow control valves (speed controller, etc.) on the head side and the rod side, loosen them by turning them one turn.
  2. Supply air pressure to the pneumatic valves connected to the head side and the rod side at the same time.
  3. Adjust the pneumatic valves to completely exhaust one side of the cylinder and move the rod to the end position.
  4. Adjust the flow control valve while repeating the piston movement.
Set the rod so that it is not impacted at the end position.
Depending on the situation, please consider installing an external shock absorber.

Maintenance

Air source

  • Please use clean air.
  • If the compressed air contains chemicals, organic solvents, synthetic oil, or corrosive gas, it may cause damage to parts or malfunction.
  • Air containing a large amount of moisture or foreign substances can cause malfunction, so install an air dryer or an after cooler on the inlet side of the product.

Usage environment

  • Take measures to prevent direct sunlight or radiant heat on the product.
  • When installing outdoors or in a dusty environment, attach a bellows or a separate cover to prevent the inflow of foreign substances.
  • Periodically check the mounting conditions of cylinders, end brackets, tie rods, and bolts, and check the connections with external devices.
  • Periodically check/complement the cylinder driving condition, piston speed, and buffer force.

Lubrication

  • Standard cylinder is initially non-lubrication type, no lubrication is required.
  • If lubrication is required, use turbine oil Class 1 ISO-VG-32.
  • Even if the product is a non-lubrication type, after lubrication once, continue to lubricate it before use. Stopping the lubrication will cause the lubricating oil to disappear and cause malfunction.

Disassembly and reassembly

<div class="ico_danger">Disassembly of a pressurized product may cause serious personal injury or property damage.</div>

  • Before disassembling, check the measures for possible dangers during exhaust, such as free fall or protrusion of the driven object, and then release the pressure inside the product and pipe.
  • Disassemble and reassemble the cylinder in a clean place.

Cleaning

  • Do not use toxic detergents.
  • Do not remove the lubricant applied to the surface of the piston rod.
  • Clean the exterior of the product periodically with a soft cloth.
Allowable detergents : soapy water (maximum 60°C), neutral detergent (without aromatic compounds)
