Installation and disassembly
Precautions before installation
<div class="ico_danger">Installation and disassembly of a pressurized product may cause personal injury and/or property damage.</div>
<div class="ico_danger ico_2ndline">Before installation, be sure to release the pressure inside the product and piping.</div>
- Ensure free space around the product for maintenance and safe operation.
- Do not install in a location with high humidity or temperature. Doing so may cause performance degradation or malfunction.
- Avoid dropping and external impacts when transporting and installing the product.
- In case of use at low temperatures, be careful against solidification or freezing of drain, water, etc.
- Connect the pneumatic pipe after completing the installation.
- Use it in compressed air systems only. The warranty does not cover any damages caused by using pressure in excess of the specifications range.
- Be sure to prepare countermeasures in case of danger when operating an actuator such as a cylinder with a valve.
- When using a center-closed valve such as a 3-position closed center, it is not possible to stop at an exact position due to the compressibility of air, so be careful when using it in a system that aims to maintain a stop position for a long period of time.
- When using a manifold, the actuator may malfunction due to back pressure. Prepare countermeasures for back pressure.
- It is not designed to ensure safety. Do not use it as a block valve; be sure to use it after preparing measures to ensure safety.
- A long period of continuous conduction results in heating of the coil assembly, which may cause degradation of the product’s performance and life expectancy.
Installation
- Look at the numbers and alphabets written on the product to check the direction of flow and port for each task before positioning the product.
Pressure - 1 or P
Work - 2, 4 or A, B
Exhaust - 3, 5 or R1, R2 - Fasten screws on the pipes and fittings of all pneumatic ports.
- Hold the female screw and proceed with a proper torque. Inadequate tightening torque may cause loosening or improper sealing, whereas excessive tightening torque may cause damage to the screws.
Torque for piping
Rc(PT) 1/8” : 7~9 N・m
Rc(PT) 1/4” : 12~14 N・m
Rc(PT) 3/8” : 22~24 N・m
Rc(PT) 1/2” : 28~30 N・m - Perfectly seal the pneumatic port, and then connect the pneumatic tube.
Pneumatic piping
- When connecting only the pneumatic pipe, without a separate mounting device, consider installing a separate pipe support to prevent excessive moment load or vibration on the pipe side. Otherwise, a malfunction or damage may occur.
- Before installing the piping, flush or clean the piping sufficiently to remove any foreign substances. Even when fastening piping or fittings, make sure that chips from the piping screws or sealing material do not move into the machine. These may cause malfunction.
- When using seal tape to prevent foreign matter such as Teflon seal from getting inside a valve, wrap the screw completely except the last screw thread.
Wiring
- When carrying out a wiring task, be sure to do so with the power disconnected and turned off.
- With a double solenoid valve, do not conduct electricity through coils on both sides simultaneously.
- Make sure the voltage supplied is identical. Failure to do so may cause faulty operation or damage to the coils.
- Check the presence of polarity when supplying electricity to a solenoid valve to which a DClamp/surge protection circuit is attached.
DIN-type terminal connector
- DIN-type terminal has an IP65 protection rating.
- After separating the connector and coil, you may assemble the coil in the 180° reverse direction to change the cord outlet.
- Take care not to damage the elements, etc. by a cord’s lead wire.
Disassembly
<div class="ico_danger">Before disassembly, be sure to release the pressure inside the product and pipe.</div>
- Exhaust air from the entire system and product.
- Press and release the lock on the pipe or fitting, then pull out the hose line.
- Loosen the fitting on the connecting flange and turn it out.
Maintenance
Air source
- Please use clean air.
- If the compressed air contains chemicals, organic solvents, synthetic oil, or corrosive gas, it may cause damage to parts or malfunction.
- Air containing a large amount of moisture or foreign substances can cause malfunction, so install an air dryer or an after cooler on the inlet side of the product.
Maintenance and inspection
- When separating a device, take measures to prevent any falling non-operating object and any sudden start. Then, block the supplied air and power and exhaust compressed air from inside of the system before separation.
- When changing or reinstalling a device, perform a test operation to prevent sudden deviation of an actuator, etc. and to see if it operates properly by manual control.
- In case of low usage, perform a conversion operation of the valve once within 30 days to prevent faulty operation.
Cleaning
- Clean the exterior of the product periodically with a soft cloth.
Allowable detergents : soapy water (maximum 60°C), neutral detergent (without aromatic compounds)
Failures and measures
In case the fixing screw is loosened
- Reassemble the fixing screw.
In case foreign matter is introduced between gaskets or the gaskets are damaged
- Remove foreign matter or replace the gaskets.
In case the seal is damaged by the introduction of foreign matter into the valve
- Clean the source of supply.
- Replace the valve.
In case the clamping bolts are loosened
- Fasten the clamping bolts once again with proper torque.
Introduction of foreign matter into the valve
- Remove foreign matter from inside the valve and piping, use of filter recommended.
Swelling of packings
- Remove and control the drain collected in the line filter.
- Replace valves, use specially ordered valve packing parts suitable for special environments.
Damage to or deformation of the valve by external force
- Be careful of impact on the valve exerted from outside.
- Fix it so that the lead wire is not pulled or install a protective cover.
Damage to or deformation of the seal
- Control the pressure and remove the drain or oil collected in a filter.
In case of faulty valve spool or introduction of foreign matter inside
- Clean the source of supply or replace the valve.
Minimum operating pressure not met
- Adjust the supply pressure to within the range of working pressure of the valve.
Verification of power failures or nonconformities
- Check for faulty wiring, poor contact at contact points, and other evidence of definite disconnection as well as parts change and rated voltage.
In case the supply voltage exceeds the specifications
- Adjust to the rated voltage.
In case leakage current has occurred
- Set the residual voltage to the standard voltage.
DC: 3% of rated voltage or less, AC: 8% of rated voltage or less.
Nonconformity on the molding coils
- Replace the molding coil assembly.
Damage to the molding coils caused by high voltage or penetration of water
- Check the supplied voltage and then replace the molding coils.
- Set up protective measures against water.
In case leakage current has occurred
- Set the residual voltage to the standard voltage.
DC: 3% of rated voltage or less, AC: 8% of rated voltage or less.
Poor sliding or adhesion caused by foreign matter introduced into the valve
- Clean the source of supply or replace the valve.
Abnormal supply pressure
- Check if the supply pressure is within the scope of the operating pressure according to the product specifications and adjust if necessary.
Malfunction caused by vibration
- Check for the occurrence of vibrations and install vibration-proof rubber or change the location to install the valve.
