Installation

Precautions before Installation

<div class="ico_danger">For product maintenance and servicing, or forinstallation or disassembly, you MUST turn power off.</div>

  • Do not commence yourwork immediately after turning power off. You have to confirm that electricvoltage no longer remains in the coils and cables before starting to operatethe product.
  • When using theproduct, you have to check its specification and use it according to thedesignated purposes.
  • If the product is tobe used in an environment with an explosive atmosphere, the safety rulesrequired in the explosion proofing regulations and local safety rules must befollowed.
  • This product has beendesigned according to the “Pressure-Resistance/Mold Explosion Structure (Ex dmb IIC T4).” This product can be used in Class I and 2 locations but not in aClass 0 environment.
  • During use, make surethat there are no explosive gases in the surrounding areas.
  • When transporting thisproduct, take caution to prevent any damage due to impacts.

Installation

<div class="ico_danger">Turn power off whenever the cover at the power supplypart of the valve is opened.</div>

  • The valve must be erect during installation, with the coil coming on the topside.
This can prevent leak inside and accumulation of foreign objects in the plunger guide assembly.
  • Be sure to use cable conduits or cable glands that have passed explosion-proof testing. The standard dimension at the connecting parts of cable conduits is G (PF) 1/2 screws.
  • When installing the product, it must be earthed in accordance with explosion proofing regulations and local safety rules.

Piping

  • Connect the pipes in accordance with the IN and OUT directions marked on the body of the valve.
  • When connecting the pipes, prevent any sealings at the screws or other foreign objects from entering the inside of the valve as they can cause malfunctions.
  • Support and align the pipe properly to prevent any deformation of the pipe while connecting.
  • Do not hold the solenoid or the valve when tightening the pipe. Use a wrench at the closest point to the piping to connect the pipes.
  • ✦Caution: Do not tighten the pipe too much when connecting the pipes in order to prevent damage to the main body of the valve.
When using Teflon tape, paste, spray, or other similar lubricants on the thread of the pipe, take extra caution to prevent excessive tightening due to reduced friction.
  • ✦Caution: To protect the valve, install strainer (filter), etc., as close to the input port of the valve as possible and clean it on a regular basis depending on the degree of contamination.

Wiring

  1. 1Rotate the junction box to an angle that is easier to work on.
  2. Rotate the junction box cover to remove it from the body.
  3. Use a grounding bolt to ground. Then, connect the power supply terminal (the polarity does not matter for either AC or DC.)
  4. Close the junction box cover and fix with fixing bolts.

<div class="ico_warn">Precautions for Wiring</div>

  • Be sure to observe the rated voltage of the product. When using the product, be sure to earth its inside and outside.
  • If an explosion-proof specification is necessary, follow the local explosion-proofing regulations.
  • Make sure the working environment has a non-explosive atmosphere.
  • When using the product, be sure to use a cable gland that passed safety certification testing equivalent to or higher than the valve’s grade.
  • You may ignore the + and – polarities when connecting for either AC or DC power sources.
  • The grounding or connecting devices on the exterior of the equipment must use a conductor that is 4mm2 or wider.

Assembly and disassembly

Disassembly of the Valve

  1. Remove the solenoid coil from the valve.
  2. Remove the plunger guide assembly from the valve cover by turning counter-clockwise. Then, take out the plunger guide O-ring from inside.
  3. Loosen the four hexagonal bolts on top of the valve cover and remove the valve cover, body O-ring, plunger/diaphragm assembly, etc.
  4. Now, you can clean or replace any parts.
  5. If there is any sign of wear or damage on a part, replace it with our spare parts.

Re-assembly of the Valve

<div class="ico_danger">We are not responsible for injuries or damages causedby troubles or accidents due to unauthorized product disassembly or assembly bythe user.</div>

  1. For the body O-ring and the plunger guide O-ring, apply a high-grade silicon lubricant. (ex: Dow Corning ®200 lubricant)
  2. Attach the body O-ring and the plunger/diaphragm assembly to the valve body.
When attaching the diaphragm, be sure to align the bleed hole to the assembly position.
Caution: NEVER twist the hanger spring connecting the plunger and the diaphragm assembly.
  3. Place the valve cover and the hexagonal bolts on the valve body. Then, tighten the hexagonal bolts a few times by hand. Then, use a tool to tighten the hexagonal bolts all the way.
  4. Place the guide O-ring on the valve cover and turn the plunger guide assembly to assemble.
  5. Insert the tension ring into the plunger guide assembly and insert the coil.
  6. While gently pressing the coil downward, attach the name plate and the washer. Then, insert the snap ring to fix it. Follow separate instructions to connect the power cable.
  7. Pressurize the pipe line and engage the power.
  8. Once the assembly is completed, operate the valve several times to ensure proper operation. Wait for the metallic “click” sound, which signifies the proper operation of the solenoid.

Maintenance

<div class="ico_warn">To prevent death, serious injuries, property damage, etc., powermust be cut off before performing any maintenance work. Depressurize the valve, put out all flames, and avoid any other types of sparks or ignition sources.Likewise, ventilate any dangerous, inflammable fluids in a safe place.</div>

Servicing

  • All solenoid valves must be cleaned on a regular basis.
  • The frequency of thorough cleaning depends on the media used in the valve and the operating environment.
  • Normally, if the valve coil operation gets slower or makes excessive noise, or if there is a leak while normal voltage is applied to the valve coil, it is time to clean it.
  • In some extreme cases, a defect in the valve may cause malfunction, preventing the valve from opening or closing. When cleaning a valve, be sure to clean the strainer (filter) as well.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Manage the valve to ensure that the media flowing through the valve are free of contaminations and protected from foreign objects.
  • Even when the valve is not in use, operate the valve at least once a month.
  • We recommend inspecting the valve on a regular basis to check for any damage or excessive wear of the parts inside the valve, depending on the media in use and the operating conditions of the valve.
  • If there are any contaminations or damage, clean all components thoroughly. If there is any damage or wear on a part, replace it with a spare part and re-install it.

Failures and measures

Malfunctioning
The plunger does not respond even when voltage is engaged.

Check if the signal voltage matches the rated voltage of the product.
- If the signal voltage is different from the rated voltage, align the signal voltage with the rated voltage.

Measure the resistance at the terminal block between the plus and minus terminals.
- If the resistance is infinite or extremely high, this means that the coil is cutoff. In this case, the product must be replaced.
- If the coil is cut off, replace the coil assembly, i.e., the entire upper part of the valve body, or the entire product itself.

Malfunctioning
When the signal voltage is inputted, the plunger moves but there is no output of the supply pressure.

Check if the supply pressure from the regulator is inputted properly.

Check if the supply pressure from the regulator is within the maximum operating pressure difference range of each product.

- If the supply pressure is off the range, adjust the supply pressure to be within the range.

Malfunctioning
The valve output is not closed even when the signal voltage is cut off.

The bleed hole inside the valve body is blocked by a foreign object, or such object is wedged on the friction part of the plunger, preventing the plunger from returning.

- Stop using the product and release the supply pressure. Then, move to a safe place to disassemble the valve, clean the inside, and reassemble.

- When cleaning a valve,be sure to clean the strainer (filter) as well.
